Who didn’t grow up on little golden books

I had a childhood of hand me downs and one of those passed on to me were my brother and sister’s massive collection of little golden books. Most of the Disney movies were on it and most of it I wasn’t able to watch back then but I had these books to tell me the story.

I knew who Pongo and Perdita were even before I saw the original 101 Dalmatians and Cinderella even before I saw the movie. Who could not forget the branding the books had. They had that golden foil for the spine and the hard carton covers that could withstand any toddlers tantrum.

Ah yes and just recently I saw at the bookstore this:

Take my advice. Don’t read it if you haven’t seen the movie. That alone says a lot. Don’t be tempted by the $2.99 price tag. The art is pretty good though.

Wii Fit Day 3

I rushed home to be able to get on the Wii and spent :31 in game time to work out.

Today I went for the longer exercises which meant more reps. I need more training on keeping my weight distribution even when standing on one foot. Note: I’m doing these exercises barefoot. I might get better performance with shoes on. But think that would be cheating.

I had a very long day at work where I just went on a meal of granola bars to get me through. I didn’t have time to eat. I know that’s a bad thing.

Finally had a decent meal at dinner with shrimps and rice with a glass of water.

On to the next day!

What a deal!

Just as I was about to give up on buying this. I had to make the mistake of going to Amazon.com. Damn you Jeff Bezos for making things easy for me to shop for almost anything. I got my camera and tens of books and videogames over the years and haven’t had a bad experience so far. Just when I was about to give up and get mad at customer service, the service was just right there when I needed it and I got it.

I expect my boxed set to arrive promptly on my doorstep two days after you ship it.

Thank God for the internet!

More signs of "cutting edge" technology

The MacBook Air: Thin Enough To Slice A Cake

Boy those Mac Book Air’s are sure sharp. You can really cut through pastries as demonstrated by these guys featured on the TechCrunch site.

Interesting to note in the photograph that the side they are using is different from the one used by the gentleman from Germany.

Soon this is going to be a shuriken if it wasn’t that valuable. Well I guess it’s not that dangerous as long as we don’t hear reports of it slicing meat or anything.

That lady at the mall gave me a bad idea

4th Edition Core Rulebook Gift Set

I went to a nearby hobby shop with a friend who was buying card sleeves for his Eye of Judgement cards when I couldn’t resist asking the question.

“Is the 4th edition out yet?”

Thankfully she replied that it was still on pre-order. But then added that they had a special package to those who would pre-order.

The agony! I had given up traditional RPGs since I got my PSone and now this! I started my nerdy/ geek run on this franchise every since I heard about it in grade school. My dad got me the basic set for my 10th birthday and I learned how to read novels through the series. I even loved the other incarnations by TSR such as Gamma World, Star Frontiers, Al-Qadim and of course, Dragonlance.

But the sad part is, no one who I used to play this with is around anymore. They all moved on or just like me went into other hobbies such as videogames or even MMORPGs.

But I wonder, is there a way to play this over the net? There must be a way. With all the current technology of Skype, iChat, AIM, Facebook and such, there must be a kind group out there who might want to start from scratch?

And that is why that lady at the mall gave me a bad idea. Which may be the reason why, this week, I’ll be going back there and pre-ordering the 4th edition.

Wii Fit Day 2

I unlocked a few more exercises in the game. The tasks seem feel easier now. Although I am having difficulty standing on one foot. Limited my workout to 30 minutes game coins time. I’m resisting the urge to weigh myself again since it’s too early to tell if there’s been any improvement.

So far I’ve spent 1:30 on the game so I’ve unlocked:

  • Sun salutation
  • Rowing squat
  • Tightrope tension
  • Super Hula Hoop
  • Standing Knee
  • Balance Bubble
  • Sideways leg lift
  • Palm tree

That does not include the increased number of reps I can do for the other exercises.

I’m worried since I’ve got a business trip in a few weeks and I’ll be away from my Wii for a month I won’t be able to to do the exercises. I’ll try to stay in shape for that one since it involves a lot of walking and more walking. But I’ll still do the test at the end of the week to check if there’s any progress.
