Wii Fit Day 48 Test 4

I’ve been gone from my Wii Fit for 35 days due to work and me flying in and out of the country and today I decided to get back on the balance board.

The tests weren’t that bad. In fact it seems I lost weight. It’s not much but at least it’s something.

My Wii Fit age has improved to 21!

I’m getting back on my Wii Fit regimen starting tomorrow hopefully until the end of the year. This is going to be a very interesting experiment.

E3 is now over and how did we do?

I think I did pretty well in predicting some E3 announcements.

Things I got right

  • Animal Crossing for the Wii
  • Newer Xbox 360 (actually HD upgrade to 60GB)
  • Newer PS3 (now with dual shock 3 and 80 GB)
  • Star Wars Game for the iPhone (does it count as a major game?)
  • Pikmin for the Wii
  • Rock Band instruments are now cross compatible with future Guitar Hero games
  • Almost got it right with Bungie (if not for its “publisher”)

It’s not bad. I missed out on all the new Wii peripherals and no really redesign or controllers with any of the consoles.
The biggest surprise was certainly the Square-Enix jump to the 360. But Sony is apparently saving something for the Tokyo Game Show which happens this fall.

The Pikmin are coming

Pikmin Trailer

Yes! Miyamoto said it! They are working on a new Pikmin game. When it will come out is still anybody’s guess but at least they haven’t forgotten Olimar and the Pikmin entirely! Can I hope earliest Holiday 2009 – Spring 2010? On the Wii? With a DS add on? Or another game entirely for it? I can’t wait.

I know where my bells are going on November 16

Yes Nintendo fans It has been dated and is coming to the Wii on November 16. Animal Crossing is coming to town!

The graphics still look the same and the same things from the Gamecube are still there such as flowers, fish, fruits and of course furnishings.

This incarnation of the game actually looks more like the DS version where the curvature of the world is prominent. Brewster, the local barista is also on the Wii and all the shops now are in the city.

This game will feature the Wii-speak add on. It’s basically a microphone where you can chat with other players online. I just hope that the game supports USB keyboards of some sort so writing all those letters to all my “neighbors” wont be such a pain.

Like previous Animal Crossing games, your character design is probably based on responses given to Rover on the bus. Your Mii can be added to your character as a makeover at the beauty parlor. But that still has to be confirmed.

All in all this is a strong holiday title for the Wii.

Wii Fit Test 3

It’s Saturday and I must check my Wii Fit progress.

Well this week is kinda mixed. What I lost last week, sadly I gained it back. It doesn’t help that I missed 3 days on the Wii Fit plus I’ve been on a steak diet this week.

The good part though is I got my Wii Fit age even lower to…

Now that is a dramatic improvement from when I started. I won’t be on the Wii Fit next week since I’ll be on a business trip. I see myself doing a lot of walking though so I’ll test myself again next week. Until then!

Wii Fit Day 13

Did 42 minutes on the balance board. Today’s regimen consists of the entire yoga workout and two aerobic exercises, the advanced dance and a short jog.

I did well enough in the dance to unlock the free step. Everything is now unlocked. Interesting to note that unlocked poses and exercises on your Mii does not mean it’s unlocked for everyone else’s profile. Your friends and family will have to earn it. Two more days till I do the test again.

Wii Fit Day 12

I’ve been working too much this week and missed two days on my Wii Fit. The balance board even told me so. So I’m trying to compensate by eating better.

But today I’m back on the board and did yoga and strength exercises plus one aerobic exercise which was the advanced dance steps.

It’s pretty fun especially when it runs faster and tells you to side step on the board. Excellent for developing motor skills.

Time spent on the Wii Fit 58 minutes.

Wii Fit Hula Hoop makes you look stupid

This is the reason why I will never post a video of myself using the Wii Fit.

Wii Fit Day 9

Did 30 minutes of aerobics on the Wii Fit. Mostly trying out the Super Hula Hoop and the Free Run.

I wasn’t that much impressed with the Free Run though. It was kinda hard running in place with no guide unlike the long run option. But you can indicate on how long you intend to run. So I clocked in at 20 minutes. Progressed in the “dance” game or should I say step game. I agree with the 1up Show’s comment that with the millions they’ve earned on the Wii, you think they would at least license a popular song.

Wii Fit Test 2

My fitness age

I did however make a significant improvement with my fitness age. The first time I did the test, I was 41 years old. Now it has dropped me to 33. Now that’s a little closer to my age so it’s quite an improvement.

Activities for the week

This is how much time I spent on each of the activities on the board. It’s hard training during the week since I train in the evening and not in the morning. So the week was focused on yoga and strength training. This week I’ll mix it up a bit. I’m going to dedicate my weekends on pure aerobics to allow myself to burn calories since I don’t have the luxury to do so during the weekday. I’ll keep the yoga and strength training to four times a week and then add one more aerobic workout day somewhere there. Maybe Tuesday, but then I would have to do all my training in the morning. Oh well, the sacrifices we have to make to be fit.
