Wii Fit Hula Hoop makes you look stupid
This is the reason why I will never post a video of myself using the Wii Fit.

The 3G is nice.
GPS (finally)
$9.99 for iPod touch owners (say what?!?!?!) That would put the total I’ve paid this year to roughly $30 just to keep updating the iPod touch. This is just crazy.
3rd party apps look great. Easy to program and easy to install
mobile me
An upgrade finally worthy of the dot mac. Push delivery is a great addition to those who don’t want to be tied too much to blackberry
10.6 Snow Leopard
Ever thought of going to another species? Snow leopard?!? Sounds like as @richstyles on twitter, “still miffed with Snow Leopard aka 10.5 SP1, Cupertino, rev up YOUR copy machines”
It really does seem like a service pack to Leopard. But I don’t see it coming out until 2010.
Apparently 99 Imperial Bronze pieces will make your locker valid until April 18, 2010. Or 99 weeks since one bronze piece will give you a week on your locker. Well it sure beats the whole thing expiring at you.
I wasn’t that much impressed with the Free Run though. It was kinda hard running in place with no guide unlike the long run option. But you can indicate on how long you intend to run. So I clocked in at 20 minutes. Progressed in the “dance” game or should I say step game. I agree with the 1up Show’s comment that with the millions they’ve earned on the Wii, you think they would at least license a popular song.
I woke up this morning to a bit of a surprise. I received and e-mail from Amazon saying that they’ve shipped my order and will arrive on Tuesday. Tuesday! Next week! That is just so sweet!
Thank you Amazon, thank you for making me happy once again. I don’t know if any Amazon employee was on twitter when I made that comment or even if they did anything or it was just all a coincidence. But still it’s made my weekend a little better.
I’ve been on the Wii Fit for a week now and it’s time take the test.
According to the test I now weigh a little less than I did the last time. Even if it’s ever so slightly. Hmmm. But since I gave myself six months to get to my ideal weight the system says it’s ok.
I did however make a significant improvement with my fitness age. The first time I did the test, I was 41 years old. Now it has dropped me to 33. Now that’s a little closer to my age so it’s quite an improvement.
This is how much time I spent on each of the activities on the board. It’s hard training during the week since I train in the evening and not in the morning. So the week was focused on yoga and strength training. This week I’ll mix it up a bit. I’m going to dedicate my weekends on pure aerobics to allow myself to burn calories since I don’t have the luxury to do so during the weekday. I’ll keep the yoga and strength training to four times a week and then add one more aerobic workout day somewhere there. Maybe Tuesday, but then I would have to do all my training in the morning. Oh well, the sacrifices we have to make to be fit.

Amazon was down early today. So I wasn’t able to check on my pre-order of Dungeons and Dragons. I took a nap. When I woke up it all over twitter and the news that Amazon seriously went down.
But now everything is fine, or so I thought. According to the status of my order page, they’ll ship on the 10th. The 10th!?!?!
But enough about that. There’s nothing I can do anything about that.
In preparation for the 4th edition I checked out the Dungeons and Dragons website and found out about the D&D Insider. It’s a site where you can create your character, create dungeons and even play online.
How on Earth can you play a tabletop game online? Basically it’s a really graphic chat room. The way I see it, it looks more like Second Life but with all of the dice rolling and voice chat. It looks really nice except for the price.
You pay $15 a month in order to play online. As written in a recent Wired article it’s the monthly fees that would be the failure of the system.
In the current web 2.0 economy as I understand it, the economy of the web has changed and the D&D Insider is still basing it’s decisions on the Web 1.0 model (we all know what happened to that).
Not everyone is a hardcore gamer. D&D comes out in the digital age, where most paper and dice players have migrated to a faster paced videogames and even the MMO.
This should be the opportunity to get new and younger players interested in the franchise or even the idea of tabletop gaming. But at $15?? I already spent $100++ on the books alone, in order to play online I still need to pay more? I pay less for my MMO a month. Not to mention it only runs on XP. Sorry mac users, they didn’t think of you. This web based play did not think of you.
The technology is here though. Get together with a bunch of friends on Skype or even a video camera. Share the dungeon maps through an online slide show or through a video camera. Roll the dice on camera. It will work. You may not have the fancy GUI of D&D Insider but you still get to play with your friends online.
What if I only want to play once a week? What if I just want to try it out? $15 may not seem a lot to a working person but what if you’re 12 years old? Now that’s a lot of money.
Wizards of the Coast will have to rethink their approach to the web if they want to get this gamer on their service.
That’s not a typo on my part. That is how it is exactly written on the Final Fantasy XI Official Web Site. But my question remains, is Ixion one of the new avatars for summoners.
Just for a short refresher, the summoner job first made it’s appearance in the Rise of the Zilart expansion. Technically this was the first expansion for the series but it was already included in the North American release of the game. The summoner is a classic job seen in the Final Fantasy series. Often changing their “summons” in almost every incarnation of the game but it still remains the same. Aeon, avatar, summons, guardian force, it all basically allows the character to call upon another power to fight for it. Each summon is usually linked to a magical element. The summoner job is a mage job (duh!).
The last avatar update was Diabolos in the Chains of Promathia expansion, the second expansion set in the series. Since then, two expansions have been released with no other avatar added to the summoner ability. Announced in the Final Fantasy Fan Festival last November, it was revealed by the developers that they were working on adding additional “avatars” to the jobs.
Ixion on the other hand I first encountered in Final Fantasy X. It was attributed to the lightning element. With Ramuh already in the series, what element will Ixion be in FFXI?
Just recently, character has reached level 75. The current maximum level for any player in the world of Vana’diel. And any new avatar would be welcome to the job. I hate getting invites to heal. Jeez go get a white mage. I would like this job to be more of a support damage dealer and hopefully this update will give it the respect that it deserves.
Tomorrow’s the day when I take my second test on the Wii Fit. We’ll see if I lost any weight at all.
I’ve unlocked all of the Yoga poses and all of the strength exercises. I haven’t started on the challenges yet until I get “fitter”.
Wish me luck!
