I’ll be working out using the Wii Fit for two weeks then I’ll post the next test. I’ll be taking pictures of what I’m eating. The time stamp will be available on my flickr page. What am I getting myself into.

I will try in the next six months to get on this thing everyday and try to lose 20 pounds. Yes that’s right, 20 pounds. I’m going to add diet to it as well. I’ll be blogging about my progress or lack of, here so wish me a lot of luck.

I’m at work and I can’t concentrate

I just got the call to get my Wii Fit at the shop and I’m still stuck at work. I want to go home now and call it a day and pick it up.

Oh the agony of the wait. I still have 3 hours to go. Sob sob.

I too also want to pick up a phone today. I’ve got my sights set on the N82.

Nokia N82 video

Tick tock tick tock. Oh the wait.

We Ski Trailer (Wii)

Of course not! Yesterday I picked up We Ski for the Wii. Produced by Bandai Namco it one the first games to support Nintendo’s balance board. Unlike the skiing game included with Wii Fit, you can play this game without it.

Using the wii mote and nunchuck configuration allows users to feel like you’re really skiing. It’s a free flowing game with no pressure. You can create a character or use your Mii. But if you use your Mii, you won’t be able to equip goggles or head gear. It’s a bit confusing at first but tricks are easy to perform. Even the ski lift is fun. Wandering around the ski resort will get you from one ski lift to another. You’ll bump into characters that will take your picture that you can share with your friends. Sadly, there’s no online multiplayer.

I’ll post another review once I get the balance board. But first impressions are good so far.

Games I’d like to see on the Wii

As I’m waiting for my Wii Fit to arrive at my door. I can’t help but look at the games that I want for the Wii.

Pikmin 3
The very reason or at least one of the reasons to own a Gamecube was to play Pikmin. I want to command my Pikmin to carry, build and attack opponents to my heart’s content. That is one thing that I’m eagerly waiting for . No news yet if they are even making another one.

Animal Crossing
Now this is one game they haven’t totally dismissed yet. Now this was one of the very first games I got for the Gamecube and my sister and I played it to death. We got the DS version and also played that to death. The online on the DS was amazing and the chat function was great for a handheld. What more if you could type on a keyboard (hint: the Wii supports USB keyboards)? Now writing all those letters to all your animal friends won’t be that hard anymore.

Nintendogs
I know I’ve written about this before and I’ll say it again. I want to raise dogs in my Wii. It’s as simple as that.

Brain Age
I’d like to train my brain on my big ass TV.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village
A sequel to the DS game would be great.

If only Nintendo can start publishing/ making games that don’t start in “Mario” then maybe the Wii won’t have too many games that suck.

My Life as King

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles WiiWare – Trailer #4

I downloaded my first Wii Ware game on my Wii and I can’t stop playing.

1500 Wii points will buy you Square-Enix’s Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles My Life as King. Based on events after the Gamecube version, you are a king that has to build a kingdom.

It’s Sim City Final Fantasy style. You build houses, stores and guilds for people. Commission adventurers to undertake quests for the kingdom all under the looming threat of the Dark Lord.

There’s no dungeon crawl for the king. But you go get updates on what’s happening to your minions subjects. It’s only been two days and I’ve racked almost 70 days of in game time.

Downloadable content on the Japanese Wii Channel have been other races and clothes for your characters.

It took a while for the whole thing to download and is the most expensive of all Wii Ware. $15 is quite a lot but the expandability of the game is there.

Here’s hoping that Square-Enix will make more content available.

How long can the Wii last?

Back in 2003, Nintendo dropped the prices of the Gamecube to the magical price point $99 I quickly went to Amazon.com and ordered one for Christmas. Early that year my cousin had showed me Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime and Pikmin. Two games that I had to have after seeing it. So I ordered it early. Unfortunately UPS lost the box but knowing how nice Amazon customer service is, they quickly sent in a replacement. It didn’t make Christmas, but it did make me happy once it got to my hands.

The main reason I got the Gamecube was the games. I already had a console. The PS2 which had been in my hands since 2001. The minute I saw Animal Crossing, I knew I’d like that game. And like it I did. So much that my sister took over my Gamecube.

Fast forward to this generation, the Wii is at the top of the sales chart with the PS3 at the back of the pack. But are there any games worth my time?

Don’t get me wrong. I have a Wii and I like it. I have a few games for it such as Trauma Center, Super Mario Galaxy and Zelda. I liked the novelty of the controller and the fun in Wii Sports and Wii Play. I would like to get my feet onto that Wii Fit if only just to be able to ski on it. But how long can it really last?

No HD, no 5.1 surround (I’m sorry like really good surround sound), no excitement on the “games”. I didn’t pick up Metroid when it came out on the Wii, Mario Party 8 wasn’t something that I would sit down and play (but it’s in my library), Wario Ware had a very short attention span and Mario Kart is apparently a dud (that is if you played the Gamecube version which many didn’t and the wheel is practically useless).

Let’s face it Nintendo fans, there are very few quality games on the Wii. It’s has creatively created it’s own audience and that are the casual gamers. These are people who will probably buy the Wii for Wii Sports and buy two more games in the next 12 months. And the game that is coming up for them to buy is Wii Fit. The move is good for Nintendo but not for it’s developers.

As a serious gamer myself, I am still waiting for that game changing game to change my view on the whole Wii thing. I’m still waiting for Animal Crossing, Nintendogs and Brain Age for the Wii. When these 3 games come out. I must say, the console is dead and they need to release a newer version.

Will it stop us from going to the gym?

Wii Fit – New US Trailer – English

Wii Fit is finally out in North America. I have yet to pick it up for myself. I even got a wireless Wii bar that I haven’t installed yet. Probably because I have yet to touch my Wii since last April. If it will give me accurate weight readings, I may just be sucked in to they hype.

Any thoughts?

Wii rules!!!!

I finally got my Nintendo Wii after weeks and months of waiting. All this time I had been playing over at my cousin’s house to get my fix of Wii sports and stuff. Finally I got one for myself. I even bought my component cables from the Virgin Megastore at the Champs Elysee in Paris last January when I was there.

Anyway, it was breeze to setup and within minutes I was serving in Wii Sports. I downloaded the updates and for while there I forgot the world of my Xbox 360 and was totally engrossed with the Wii.

I immediately created my Mii and finally played the two Wii games I already bought even before I had the console, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Trauma Center: Second Opinion. Having played Trauma Center on the DS, the Wii version was much easier and the storyline was much better.

I now switch in between my 360 and my Wii. While waiting for Besieged in FFXI Online (currently the only MMO I play) I get on Wii Sports and get a workout in boxing, bowling and tennis.

I know for some people, bowling on the Wii is quite boring. On the contrary, it’s quite challenging. The hand movements actually affect the movement of the ball. Much the same in Wii Tennis and all other other sports games. The only thing I don’t like about the game would be Wii Golf. It’s nothing like real golf nor does it try to even guess the swing height. Maybe EA’s Tiger Woods golf will do better.

All in all, I’m very satisfied with my Wii. It provides me with a different kind of game genre that is mostly overlooked by Sony and Microsoft. It’s perfect for the casual gamer or people who are looking more from their DS.

I’ll post more when I’ve gotten far with my Wii games.
