FFXIV Music to be performed in Chicago

As 2009 comes to a close, the Distant Worlds concert tour of Arnie Roth and Nobuo Uematsu will end the year in Chicago. They will include new music into the mix particularly the theme of the upcoming MMORPG, FFXIV.

I had the pleasure of attending the Singapore concert in the middle of this year which was amazing and I’m glad that they’ve brought the concert series outside of Japan and the United States into other countries as well.

Uematsu will be there and will be seated with the audience. Just like in Singapore! The concert will be on December 12.

Here’s hoping they come back to South East Asia next year!

Seen in Macau: Granite sidewalks

The old sidewalks of Macau are covered in these black and white
granite tiles. It’s quite fascinating to look at but what heppens when
it rains? Doesn’t it get all slippery and you fall down? Especially on
the downward slope of the hills?

Seen in Macau: Ruins of St. Paul

We took a taxi from the hotel to one of the major landmarks of the
city which is the ruins of St. Paul’s Cathedral. According to
Wikipedia, the Jesuit cathedral was built in 1582 and was then the
largest Catholic church in Asia. It was destroyed by a fire and
typhoon in 1835. All that remains is the facade.

I didn’t take this picture during this trip but last year. Not much
has changed since then.

Not too far from the Ruins of St. Paul’s Cathedral is this LED
billboard.

Seen in Macau: Astro Boy Credit Cards

Getting a credit card in this Macao back nets you an approval gift and
welcome gift with Astro boy all over it along with one of three design
on the card. Have you opened an account just because of the “freebies?

Going home

Ah yes. It’s been a glorious 3 days of vacation in Macau but all good
things must come to an end. I will be mass posting as much as I can
before I board that plane to go back to Manila. University classes
start on Tuesday so this vacation was well timed.

I’ll be away for a few days

I’ll be away for a few days, originally uploaded by mdelamerced.

I’m on a last minute trip out of the country to Macau. I’m not sure on
the internet situation there if it has improved (ie: free internet) as
I was unlucky the last time I was there. I’ll be flying in a bit but
I’ll post the pictures I take there as soon as I get a decent
connection.

I will be able to twitter so updates will be posted through there.

See you all in a few days!

Are you eligible for the Nexus Cape?

FINAL FANTASY XI Official Web Site
Yes it’s 2009 and I’m still playing Final Fantasy Online. On November 10, upon the release of the third add on scenario “Shantoto’s Ascension” Playonline will reward gamers who have all three scenarios with the Nexus cape.

According to the official Playonline website, “it’s an item that allows characters in a party to teleport to their leader’s location.”
However the teleport is limited in range as it does not allow you access to the Aht Urghan, Chains of Promathia, and Wings of the Goddess, caves, dungeons and the beastman areas. Bummer.

It’s very similar to the Tidal Talisman which was only available to players who purchased the actual Tidal Talisman last year. This item allowed players to teleport to pre-determined locations most notably between Aht Urghan and Nashmau for those on Salvage missions.

I can see the Nexus Cape to be of some worth to lower level characters who are leveling up in the said areas in a party. It’s of no use to those who are playing solo in the game. Higher level characters will find use when they are gathering for linkshell events such as Dynamis and for those who are in summoner parties.

This is an item that I wished I had when I was leveling my summoner and my white mage even. This item is especially useful when trying to get to areas such as Uleguerand Range, Attohwa Chasm, Beaucedine Glacier, Cape Terrigan, Valley of Sorrows, Behemoth’s Dominion and Norg.

Of course, the biggest downside is that your party leader has to be there FIRST and you’re all in the same party. We’ll see how my linkshell reacts to the accessory on November 10.

Qualifying players can pick up the item in the treasure coffer in the Tenshodo Headquarters in Lower Jeuno.

Who’s going?

Anime fans in Asia will descend on Singapore in November for this year’s Anime Festival Asia 2009. I haven’t been to an anime event in a long time let alone outside the country but I thought this was the perfect chance. I did have a few conditions before I finally decided to go and the hotel was last on my list.

1. I must have tickets to the “I Love Anisong” concert. Particularly for the May’n concert since I’m a huge Macross fan.
2. Danny Choo is showing up so that’s a plus.
3. My lovely travel agent could get me a great package for the airfare and hotels.

Thank goodness all three have come true! I don’t work in the anime industry so I won’t be at the Anime Asia Conference (who knows? maybe next year). But I’ll try to live blog the events that I can attend. I’m particularly looking forward to the K-ON experience and the Regional Cosplay championships. Good luck to all the finalists!

See you all in Singapore on November 21-22!
