What should’ve been there in the first place

PSP Online Access: Shit Just Got Real

When Sony launched the Playstation Network store on the PS3, the PSP store was also launched but only for the PC. Yes, mac users were left out in the cold. It seems that times have changed and they will now be bringing that very same store to the handheld. I wonder where they got that idea?

Before, you had to buy the game on your PC or on the PS3 then hook up your PSP via USB and transfer it to the memory stick. Soon you’ll be able to shop directly on the PSP and download it there. Be prepared with your power cord since some downloads may take a while, of course that’s just from my experience.

There are more functionalities announced such as ad hoc gaming and such with the PS3. All I can say is that it’s about time.

Home early!

Today was a pretty good day. I’m home early! Apparently the typhoon over Hong Kong is cancelling a number of flights into China. Not that it has anything to do with me.

My hectic schedule has driven me away from my Wii Fit again. I forsee this happening for another two weeks for the duration of the Olympics.

But that doesn’t stop me from trying to read all of my RSS feeds and flagging those I want to blog about.

Gizmodo posts that Electric City Akihabara is now on Google Street Maps. Kakoii!

PS3 fans still have something to be happy about. FF Versus XIII is still a PS3 exclusive – Kotaku

I’ll see if I can post more stuffs tomorrow.

Dateline: Tokyo DKΣ3713

At the Square-Enix event in Tokyo, they seemed to announce things that would appease their loyal PS3 fans.

Final Fantasy XIII demo is heading for the PS3 in March 2009 which is bundled with the blu-ray version of FFVII Advent Children. This practically crushes any hope that it would be a surprise Holiday title.

Development of the Xbox 360 version will not begin until the PS3 version has been released.

PSP fans have everything to look forward to especially with Parasite Eve making it’s return.

My only problem with the announcements is that it makes me excited, next year. Sigh.

E3 is now over and how did we do?

I think I did pretty well in predicting some E3 announcements.

Things I got right

  • Animal Crossing for the Wii
  • Newer Xbox 360 (actually HD upgrade to 60GB)
  • Newer PS3 (now with dual shock 3 and 80 GB)
  • Star Wars Game for the iPhone (does it count as a major game?)
  • Pikmin for the Wii
  • Rock Band instruments are now cross compatible with future Guitar Hero games
  • Almost got it right with Bungie (if not for its “publisher”)

It’s not bad. I missed out on all the new Wii peripherals and no really redesign or controllers with any of the consoles.
The biggest surprise was certainly the Square-Enix jump to the 360. But Sony is apparently saving something for the Tokyo Game Show which happens this fall.

Hell has frozen over

Square Enix: Final Fantasy XIII Coming To Xbox 360

I’m sorry PS3 fans. It has happened. FFXIII is coming to the 360. The unthinkable has happened. Although it was not the only driver for me in buying the PS3 in the first place but it seems that the game has regionalized the gaming world with Japan with the PS3 and US and Europe for both the PS3 and 360.

Probably due to high production costs and low user base of the PS3, this prompted Square-Enix in sealing a deal with Microsoft. Surprisingly, in an interview with 1up.com, FFXIII producer Yoshinori Kitase says that development for the Xbox 360 version hasn’t actually begun. This means that this deal was made very recently. Hmmm.

But still, a lot of Square-Enix development is currently on the 360 with eventual release on the PS3. Are the days of exclusive games coming to an end?

It will be interesting to see how the 360 version will pan out with the game originally made with blu-ray in mind. Imagine cramming over 50GB of data on a number of DVDs on the 360.

Does this strike a nail in the coffin for the PS3? That remains to be seen. But personally, I’ll be getting this game on the PS3 because I prefer the controller and interface that Sony brings.

Apparently Naomi Hunter is too hot for my PS3

After seeing Naomi Hunter appear in the game for the first time and was watching the briefing of Act 2, my PS3 decides to die on me at this particular moment. The PS3 stopped reading the disc. I restarted the PS3 but other games that I pop in are not detected. Oh the agony. It just stopped on me. So what else would a gaming addict do? Go to the store and buy another one.

I did it without thinking. I know I can call Sony and have my console “repaired”. But it still sucks for me. I’ll be spending my evening trying to transfer everything over to the new PS3.

I love my 60GB PS3. It allows me to play PS2 games on it (which I still have a lot). The hard drive size is just right. It still is the best PS3 console around. I’ll still have to repaired. But in the meantime, I’ll have to be content with this 40GB one.

Finally I’ve had some time with my PS3

Working sucks. Working really hard sucks even more especially if it takes me away from a AAA game that is Metal Gear Solid 4.

I’ve finally had some time with the game and met Drebin. Yes that’s how slow I’m going through game. It’s so bad that I haven’t been back on my Wii Fit. I need a new job schedule.

But back to MGS4 which I think is awesome. A friend of mine says it’s easier than MGS3, which I insanely played for 3 days straight. This is something that I cannot do with this time around. I think they could have made another game with the amount of content in this one but I’m satisfied. I’m still trying to get used to the controls and the actions. It’s been a while since I played a MGS game. I wasn’t even able to finish the one on the PSP.

This game does not disappoint. You will need some background before playing the game. To fully understand and experience the game, you should have spent spring playing through the 3 MGS games.

I just started playing so this is a very early review. But from what I’ve seen so far. It’s well worth the wait.

These are the times I wished I was in the U.S.

Hideo Kojima HMV Metal Gear Solid 4 Signing Session (Engsub)

Metal Gear Solid 4 came out last Thursday and Hideo Kojima was in the U.S. to sign autographs in New York and then to the Metreon in San Francisco on the 14th.

I’ll be going on a business trip next week so my updates may either be short or none at all. Hopefully I’ll be so busy that I wouldn’t notice that I’m the only one with a PS3 not playing MGS4. I won’t get my hands on it until Saturday or Sunday next week at the earliest. Sigh. Why do I have to work to be able to afford all the games I play?

Rapture comes to the PS3
